Recommended Reading
One of the best sources of business information can come from books. They are never going to provide you with all the solutions but in many cases they will make you think and examine the way that you conduct yourself and your business.
Here is a lis of books that I would recommend you read ( and re-read ).
1. The Art of War - Sun Tzu
Everybody knows that business is war and like any good general those who master it will never fail to succeed.
2. The E-Myth - Michael Gerber
The consultants bible. This book teaches you that to run a successful business you need to spend less time being a technician.
3. The Art of Selling - Tom Hopkins
Even if you aren't a "salesman" you'll get something out of this book. Learn what makes a true sales professional.
4. Thick Face, Black Heart - Chin-Ning Chu
Learn how to do business in a way foreign to most Westerners. Some things in this book make you really think.
5. How to organise and operate a small business in Australia - John English
Gets you up to speed on a wide variety of topics that you will need to be acquainted with when running a business in Australia
6. As a man thinketh - James Allen
Positive thoughts lead to positive outcomes and they all products of your own mind.
7. How to win friends and influence people - Dale Carnegie
Some simple rules on how to deal with people that can produce some very unexpected outcomes.
8. The Seven Habits of Highly effective People - Stephen Covey
Practicing these seven habits will improve your business and yourself.
9. In Search of Excellence - Tom Peters and Robert Waterman
Shows you that good customer service really pays.
10. Sales Dogs : Rich Dad's Advisor - Blair Singer
Illustrates that there many different methods and personalities that sell.
Study
Any of these books can't be read once and then forgotten. As you and your business grow and progress through different cycles different aspects of the books will come to light. So I encourage you to continue to read the books continually - I know I do.
