Located on College and William Streets in the east of the city, directly across from Hyde Park. It provides excellent examples of natural history as well as Aboriginal Australia and The Albert Chapman Mineral Collection. The Australian Museum is open daily from 9.30am - 5pm.

Powerhouse

500 Harris Street, Ultimo. Phone 9217 0111

Located to the west of Darling Harbour on Harris Street Ultimo. The Powerhouse Museum caters for technology and science exhibits incorporating a significant amount of hands on activity. Adults $ 8, Children $2 ( under 5 free ), Family $ 18, Concession $3, Seniors and Members Free.

Maritime

Located in the north of Darling Harbour. It houses a vast array of Australian maritime history as well a number of fascinating exhibits, including a Russian Foxtrot submarine. Open 9.30am to 5pm every day ( except Christmas Day ). For information call 9552 7777

Contemporary Art

Located on the foreshores of Circular Quay next to the Rocks. The museum is open daily from 10am to 6pm. Admission : Adult $ 9, Concession $ 6 and Family $ 18.

Mint

Macquarie St, Sydney.

The Sydney Mint is one of Sydney's oldest public buildings having once served as the Sydney branch of London's Royal Mint. The Mint houses collections of gold and silver from coins to trophies some of which date back to 500 BC. The Mint is open every day from 10am to 5pm.

Observatory

Observatory Hill, The Rocks. Phone : 9217 0444

Housing a vast array of exhibitions, films, talk and night viewing of the heavens. The Observatory is open every day from 10am - 5pm

Sydney

 Located on the site of the first government house, on the corner of Phillip and Bridge Streets. Open daily between 10am - 5pm ( except Christmas Day and Good Friday). Adults $ 6, Concession $ 4, Family $ 12.

Performing Arts

The Dennis Wolanski Library of the Performing Arts is open Monday through Friday ( except public holidays ) at the Opera House on Bennelong Point between 10 am and 6 pm.

State Library

The State or Mitchell Library is located in Shakespeare Place on the corner of Macquarie and Bent Streets on the eastern side of the city.
