Mobiles

Australia currently has three mobile phone network providers. The largest of these is Telstra , followed by Optus and Vodaphone. All providers support both Digital as well as Analog phone sets, however the analogue network is being phased out, with service to end by the year 2000.

The new digital networks of all suppliers support the GSM standard which is common in Europe. US visitors currently cannot use their existing handset with any of the Australian providers.

For more information about using your mobile phone while visiting Sydney contact your current provider or one of the suppliers above.
