Train

Amtrak trains from Canada and other locations in the US all pass through Penn Station located between Seventh and Eighth Avenues and from 31st to 33rd streets and is directly beneath Madison Square Garden. You can catch the normal Metro Subway to 34th Street - Penn Station and change for the Amtrak.

Also from Penn Station you'll find New Jersey Transit and Long Island Railroad trains.

You can purchase tickets by calling 1-800-USA-RAIL or 1-800-872-724, using a travel agent, via the Amtrak web site or at Penn Station. When you purchase the tickets over the phone or Internet you can either have them posted you or picked up at the ticket counter at Penn Station.

Some fast trains operate on certain Amtrak routes, such as Metroliner between Boston and Washington via New York.
